I thought I would let you know that last summer when the temp was 100 plus outside my husband measured the temperature of the glass of the west facing slider with an infared thermometer then we pulled the transparent solar shade and measured again and there was a 30 degree difference. We truly love this shade. It makes a big difference in the temperature inside the room.

  • High Performance EnviroScreen Description

EnviroScreen is a highly robust metallized solar shade fabric. It is woven in a screen-like construction but with a clear textile appearance, which combines a 4% openness factor with an excellent view through.  EnviroScreen gives exceptional visual and thermal comfort  The open weave allows ventilation.

Thanks to a nano layer of aluminum that is vacuum bonded to the outside facing side, this metallized backing substantially reflects out solar heat for cooler temperatures in the summer and re-radiates the room’s heat for warmer temperatures during the winter. This results in a reduction of the CO2 emissions and therefore minimizes the greenhouse effect. The aluminum covers only the fabric fibers and does not clog the openings keeping the outward views clear. It also allows more light into the room.  Like all transparent shades, it provides daytime privacy only.

Unlike standard solar shade fabrics that need to be white for maximum heat rejection, EnviroScreen has the same superb heat rejection even in dark colors.  Because dark colors give sharper outward visibility and better glare reduction you can now use them without compromising solar heat gain. As the sun rays hit the back of EnviroScreen, light is diffused and scattered eliminating any mirror effect.
Use a different color in each room with a uniform look on the exterior facing side.  EnviroScreen is less expensive than the Verosol Silver Screen.  It pays to go green!

    Shade Pulls

ShadePullsDecorative pulls maintain cleanliness and add an enhancing accent to any roller shade. Shade pulls are available in wooden balls, wooden tassels, beehive pulls and cylinder pulls.

    Motorization

    HR_Motorized

A motorized lift system raises and lowers one shade or a group of shades with the push of a button. Radio-frequency motorization is excellent for any space with large windows, multiple windows, or for the simple convenience and child-safe method of operating shades. Available with: Standard Roller, Designer Cassette options and 3" Fascia.

Hand held  5 channel remote allows for individual programming of 5 shades (or groups of shades) plus an 'all' channel. Also available: plug in transformer for Simplicity Motor to take the place of the batteries if you don't want to change them. This is also recommended for shades that are very high up and hard to reach.
    best-for-kids-badge

Simplicity motors are battery operated and come with a re-loadable 12V battery wand. Refill with 8 alkaline AA batteries. If the motor runs slowly, that’s usually a sign you need to change out the batteries. If you allow the batteries to go completely dead and the motors stop working, they will lose their programming and will need to be reprogrammed. To avoid this, it is important to monitor.

Simplicity Power Touch motors are an economical way to motorize. They are controlled by a switch on a wand that is attached to the shade itself rather than a hand held remote. We also offer Somfy motors if you are looking for wall mounted remotes, timers, etc.

Q: My shade won’t go all the way up, or all the way down.
    How do I fix this?
This is caused by the metal chain stopper being in the wrong place and usually happens when the shade is installed wrong.

Here are the "rules of thumb" about chain stoppers:

    • Regular roll shades: metal stopper bead is at the top, touching the clutch on the window side, when the shade is all the way up.
    • Reverse roll shades: metal stopper bead is at the top, touching the clutch on the room side, when the shade is all the way up.

Here is how to fix common stopper bead problems:

    • If you have a Regular roll shade (the material goes down the back of the roller and is near the glass), then when the shade is all the way up, the metal stopper bead should be at the top, touching the clutch, and on the side of the clutch nearest the glass. If this is so, but your shade isn't all the way up, here’s how to correct it:
      - If the shade is small and easy to handle, the easiest way is to roll the shade up as far as it will go. Remove the shade from the brackets. Slip the clutch out of the roller. Manually roll the shade until it is all the way up. Put the clutch back into the roller.
      - If the shade is large and you don’t have help, you can correct it while it’s still in the brackets. Take hold of the bottom of the shade by the weighted bar, and physically lift the shade material up and over the front of the roller. By doing this you are manually rolling up the shade. Repeat until the shade is all the way up. It should operate correctly now.
    • If you have a Reverse roll shade (the material goes down the front of the roller and is further from the glass), then when the shade is all the way up, the metal stopper bead should be at the top, touching the clutch, and on the side further from the glass.
Take hold of the bottom of the shade by the weighted bar, and physically lift the shade material up and behind the roller. By doing this you are manually rolling up the shade. Repeat until the shade is all the way up. It should operate correctly now.

Q: The material on my shade is rolling up crooked.
What causes this and how do I fix it?
This is usually caused by the installation not being level; the shade will roll towards the higher side. It must be corrected immediately or the shade material, telescoping over the end, will rub the shade brackets and get damaged.

    • Best solution is to remount the brackets so the shade will be level.
    • Another solution is to lower the shade until the roller is exposed. On the side opposite the incorrect roll place a 3 inch length of 1 1/2" masking tape on the long edge of the shade material, or on the roller edge. This will balance (level) the roller. Additional layers of tape may be required until the shade rolls up evenly.
    • Operate the shade slowly to be sure the roll is correct; stop at once if the material runs to one side.

Q: I want to change the side my chain is on, or make my shade a reverse roll instead of regular. How do I do this?
If your shade is a left hand control reverse roll, and you want a right hand control reverse roll, it’s a bit trickier to correct. If you have already installed the shade, roll the shade all the way up (the bead stopper will be at the top and on the side further from the glass) remove it from the brackets, take the brackets down, and reinstall the brackets so that the clutch bracket is on the right. Then, pull the clutch and the pin end out of the roller, and put the pin end on the end you just took the clutch from. Holding the clutch in your hand with the chain on the right hand side, pull the chain until the bead stopper is at the top on the opposite side (which will be again further from the glass when in the shade). Insert the clutch in to the right hand side of the tube and place the shade back on the brackets. It should operate correctly now, and be a right hand controlled reverse roll shade.

If your shade is a right hand control reverse roll, and you want a left hand control reverse roll, roll the shade all the way up (the bead stopper will be at the top and on the side closer from the glass) remove it from the brackets, take the brackets down, and reinstall the brackets so that the clutch bracket is on the left. Then, pull the clutch and the pin end out of the roller, and put the pin end on the end you just took the clutch from. Holding the clutch in your hand with the chain on the left hand side, pull the chain until the bead stopper is at the top on the opposite side (which will be further to the glass when in the shade). Insert the clutch in to the left hand side of the tube and place the shade back on the brackets. It should operate correctly now, and be a left hand controlled reverse roll shade.

Q: Will Solar Shades save me money?
Windows have the lowest insulation value of any element in a building and are therefore responsible for the greatest energy loss.  50% of the solar heat that enters a room comes through the glass while 40% of the heat that escapes leaves through it. Transparent solar shades significantly reduce the high cost of energy consumption for cooling and heating without sacrificing visibility through a window.  Because they quickly pay for themselves, with skyrocketing fuel costs they are like putting money in the bank.

Interior Solar Shades form an insulating air pocket between the shade and the window. Metallized fabrics or colors closest to white best reflect the heat back out through the glass in the summer.  If you put your hand on a black car and a white car, the white car is always cooler. In winter shades should be raised during the day to allow in the sun’s radiation. At night in the winter or on cloudy days they should be lowered to reflect heat back into  the room.
